How Our Gifts Work

When you buy a CHF Gift That Matters - Here's how it works...

Each item in the catalogue is needed for one or more current CHF projects overseas. Your donation will be applied to the one you select. Once enough funds are raised for a specific type of gift, CHF will apply your donation to another aspect of our projects. Since our bundled gift baskets offer items from several of our projects, these donations may support more than one of them. All of our gifts are items that are urgently needed by people challenged by poverty.

The cost of your gift takes into consideration all the factors needed to ensure that it has the greatest possible impact on the lives of people living in poverty overseas, for example:

Transportation, delivery and distribution for your gift to reach its new home
Veterinary training and care to keep animals healthy
Skills training to construct and maintain water systems
Training families to make best use of their gift
Market awareness education so families can make the most of their assets

Our costs also reflect the variations in inflation experienced in the respective countries.

For every $1 you donate, CIDA (Canadian International Development Agency) commits $3. For example, when you donate $100, CIDA contributes $300 - so the total value of your gift is now $400! That's an excellent investment in the people and programs we serve.
